James Gard is an Australian solicitor admitted in the Supreme Court of New South Wales. He is a Legal Specialist, working in the firm’s office in Chengdu. His current responsibilities include international arbitration and breach of contract.
Education:
Mr. Gard has a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of Laws in International Business and Commercial Law from the University of New South Wales. He also has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the Australian National University.
Prior to coming to China to work for Anderson & Anderson Mr. Gard was a solicitor with The People’s Solicitors in Sydney and a Legal Analyst with Herbert Smith Freehills in Perth and Melbourne.
Mr. Gard has extensive international experience, having worked in education as a teacher and manager in Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand and Mongolia.

After finishing his Master of Laws Mr. Gard spent a year in Ulaanbaatar as a volunteer English Language Development Officer with AusAID, working with members of Mongolia’s National Emergency Management Agency.
Before moving to China he was a member of the committee of the Victorian branch of Conradh na Gaeilge.
